    This Saturday is officially the first day of fall! As the crisp air rolls in and the leaves start to change, fall offers some of the most perfect conditions for outdoor running.

    With cooler temperatures and scenic routes, it’s a favorite time for many runners to hit the pavement or trails.

    However, fall also comes with unique challenges that can affect your routine. Whether you're training for an upcoming race or just enjoying your runs, these tips will help you make the most of the season.

    Dress in Layers

    Fall mornings can be chilly, but temperatures often warm up as the day progresses. Dressing in layers allows you to stay comfortable throughout your run!

    Start with a moisture-wicking base layer to keep sweat away, and add a light jacket or long-sleeved shirt for extra warmth.

    Remember, you’ll warm up quickly once you start moving, so avoid overdressing!

    Watch Out for Wet Leaves

    Fallen leaves can be beautiful, but when wet, they become slippery and can create a hazard underfoot.

    If you’re running on trails or paths covered in leaves, take extra care with your footing. Consider wearing shoes with good traction, especially if you expect rainy weather.

    Adjust Your Hydration

    Cooler temperatures can sometimes trick us into thinking we don’t need as much water.
